The night light doesn't stick anywhere, it's screw on and doesn't have a removable base so you can leave the base and take the lamp off to change the battery. The battery compartment is on the back and therefore cannot be bypassed. The flashlight uses 6 AA batteries. It's quite bright. I put it in the garage and it allows me to see where I'm going. The light is activated by movement and stays on until you stop moving for +20 seconds. Some other motion-activated lights don't wait for you to stop moving, which is annoying. The 120 degree range for movement is in the horizontal direction, side to side, but not up and down, so you can't leave it on its side, it has to stay vertical. It looks very nice, better than most motion activated lights.
