I've been making my own since the hollow days. I LOVE to pack so I was happy to unpack and assemble this frame even though I had just finished a 12 hour shift even though I didn't have a mattress to put it on. (I've already resigned myself to spending at least one more night on the living room's 2-seater sofa, which folds out into a sofa bed.) The instructions were easy enough, although I don't understand why "HL" ( presumably "head left") and "FR" (assuming "foot right") are on the same side of the bed. Also, I can't figure out why other parts connected to the legs aren't labeled "Head", "Leg", "Left" and "Right". Ultimately, that nomenclature would have saved me about three seconds of confusion, so it probably wasn't worth it. So I tighten all the screws, flip it over, insert the last bolted bar connecting the sides and I'm ready for the slats to fall in the middle, right? At this point it should be noted that the brackets for holding the slats in the frame are made of metal with a rubber insert. The first plank, which is in the headboard, dangled a bit in the consoles when assembling the bed. By that I mean if the rails were flush in one mount, there was a gap of a millimeter or five in the other mount and there are no screws to hold them in place. Of course I plan on having most of my weight in the middle of the bed and they fit quite well. I reach the last pair of slats and struggle to get them inside. In the end I decide to remove the two screws to leave more room to mount the fins, but then I can't slide the side far enough to reattach them. After struggling with this for about thirty minutes, I finally took out one of the rubber insert mounts on the last bar. if I get less sleep, but if sides A and B are specifically meant to be at the head and foot of the bed when set up, then they should be marked as such. And at this point I'm suspicious of how comfortable any bed will be on this frame. I ordered 9-inch memory foam, but now all I can think of is the slats digging into my body as I restless sleep. UPDATE: After the hurt me party and a little nap, I looked at the instructions again. Side A goes to the head and side B goes to the foot. So I moved it but the two slots near side A now at the head of the bed where it belongs is still only a millimeter or 2 will fit for a long time without removing the rubber inserts. We'll see how it goes with the mattress on top, after reading other reviews I'll probably return it and just buy a camper from Walmart until I can afford the furniture I want. .
