These are great leggings for cold weather. It's very warm, thick and long enough to cover your nose to your collarbone. Also, you can breathe. I've had fleece gaiters and when I use them as a face mask for extreme cold, your warm breath on the fleece causes condensation and makes the fleece damp. And I also found out that you can't breathe through fleece. I also had knitted leg warmers and they breathed better but they were short. These gaiters have a fleece lining, but it has holes in it so you can breathe freely. Very important in cold weather. I also used it as a last resort for a face mask when I was about to have coffee etc when I forgot my Covid mask in the car. It's thick enough to be protective (compared to something thin like a buff). One downside - although I never use it for that. It has a drawstring and a clip around the top opening so you can convert it into a hat if needed. But the clip on mine isn't holding the tension so it doesn't work. But maybe that's just what I have. However, I live in a colder climate now and use it all the time.
