Sticky, smelly, few ties. Waste of money

Immediately after unpacking, the tarpaulin gave off a strong smell of old camping gear. When unfolding, the tarpaulin stuck together in places. I had to pull with a little force to separate the fabric. After opening, the fabric remained quite sticky, especially on the underside. As things developed I let it hang sticky side up in my basement for a few days hoping the sticky stuff would heal or something and it would help, but it's still pretty sticky. leaves/branches/dirt stick to it but the smell stays. After some research it probably happens that the tarpaulin has a polyurethane (polyurethane?) coating, which is the old way of impregnation, and the coating will crack. over time, especially with improper storage (perhaps heat or temperature changes in the warehouse?). I effectively removed the damaged polyurethane coating by washing it in a bath of detergent and Oxyclean, then reapplying the silicone spray. I DO NOT WANT TO RELY ON THIS AS MY ONLY ACCOMMODATION ON A JOURNEY TO THE WHITE NORTH. I chose the DD tarpaulin and am very happy with this purchase. Water and odorless out of the box, more attachment points for different hiding places, all around is better. If you are looking for a quality and reliable landscape tarp, don't waste your time and money on this one.
