We have used this to temporarily house our chicks in late winter/early spring until they are old and warm enough to place them outside. It was perfect for the job. It was spacious enough for 9 chicks until they were 3 months old. It's reasonably well ventilated and in the garage it was easy to warm the handle with the heat lamp above it. The zippered top kept them from jumping out when they were big enough, but still gave them enough headroom so they weren't cramped and made access to the waterer and food bowl easier. Nylon is easy to clean. When they outgrew the handle it was still in good condition so it could be used again after cleaning.
