Review on Uncut Blade Motorcycle Key Blank for Suzuki GSXR 600 750 1000 GSX1300R GSF 650 - Pack of 3 by Sean Sheppard

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Powered by the first generation DL650 2005-2006. Just like the 2020 OEM DL650. Cutting at a small hardware store.

As it looked like a new 2020 key I didn't think it would fit my 2005 DL650 but it does. This is slightly longer than OEM key for 1st generation DL650. Those buttons are exactly the same as on the 2020 DL650 friend, even the Suzuki decal looked cheesy according to one reviewer. The material doesn't give me any indication that it will fail faster than an OEM key. It's a bit bulkier than the old style or just flat keys. Duplicating my one old key that came with my bike was a little harder than I thought. Forget the big Home Depot and Lowes, these are slick new systems that really can't cut a custom key. Go to an old hardware store with people who know how to work with a real tool. The local shop made me two keys in minutes. They charged me $1 for the side cut so $2 for the key. My next trip shouldn't involve a frantic search for a tent and a complete dumping of gear in search of my only bike. The last place I looked was at the cuff of my fishnet pants. Apparently the clear pocket is very similar to the pocket of my jacket in a tent in front of the coffee. They say there is a chip slot somewhere but I can't see it so I can't confirm it. Fortunately, my Gen1 doesn't require a chip and isn't attractive enough to be a target for theft. And I'm working hard to wear out all the parts, so it's not even attractive to the parts.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Negative result available
