Not only does this protect the cable, it seals the splice, the heat-shrink tube is thick but flexible, and it adds a ton of strength to the join. Plus once the tube is shrunk, you can add a second layer for even additional protection. It's an excellent choice for heat-shrink tube. It can also be used to seal and cap off a cut cable. Cut a length, heat, clamp the open end. The glue will seal to itself and form a waterproof cap. While still warm, fold back and tie-strap in place. Stands up to the worst weather.
