Review on Columbia TurboDown Hooded Jacket for Men - Voodoo Falls 590 by Micheal Wright

So images of a man on a mountain top wearing this jacket can be a bit misleading. I live in the city of Chicago; I bought this jacket about a month ago (November 2019) when temperatures dropped below 40F. I'm the type of person who doesn't get cold easily (although I grew up in Southern California) and wear this jacket (Columbia Mens Die Voodoo Falls 590 Turbodown Jacket in blue colors above about 60°F warms you up very quickly - on par with one of my much heavier jackets, for comparison I've worn this jacket with and without a fleece jacket (over regular clothing ranging from a cotton t-shirt to a sports t-shirt under armor and business attire - in frigid weather (32 F plus or minus 10 degrees Fahrenheit to account for daily variations and cold wind) I wore this when walking the dog, going to work, getting in and out of the car, etc. cold weather for about 30 minutes. Surprisingly, that seemed Wearing a fleece coat underneath this jacket doesn't make much of a difference in warmth After several attempts to do with and without a fleece layer sure looks sturdy m I took off the fleece layer and simp oh a jacket pulled over a t-shirt. When it got particularly cold or windy, the hood provided extra warmth. While the jacket appeared to do its advertised job well, I did not feel particularly warm wearing the jacket in this weather/temperature range. Although I wasn't cold (meaning I was almost shivering), I wasn't warm either. The reflective feature on the inside seemed to help a little (minor difference between fleece and non-fleece caused by reflecting your radiant heat while fleece probably didn't have much heat to reflect). It's super light making it perfect for travel (I haven't tried stuffing it in my backpack to see if the feathers pop out - so far I've only seen one feather(?) in the last month. I'll also say that while it probably does its best to keep you warm and toasty in the 40-50 F range, probably not suited for much colder temperatures (like on a mountain top) based on my limited experimentation.Now things may be over - another if you're constantly on the move and generating excessive heat - I'm talking "calm down".
