Excellent lady. Perhaps this is the only large (about 1.5 inch) set designed for playing checkers and not backgammon and checkers by the way. Backgammon sets, especially those for magnetic boards, are designed specifically for backgammon and are too small for checkers. Most sets contain 15 items, which allows them to be used for both backgammon and checkers. This set comes with 12 pieces per side and is more aesthetically pleasing than the flat pieces. I bought these to use on a large vinyl chessboard framed (by me) in green and white (the colors of the draft championship). Now I have wooden queens and wooden chess pieces. I can buy one or more kits to paint (black) white so the colors are recognized by ACF. I barely passed the beginner women's level. Well, now I'm comparing myself to high profile players who are way ahead of me after ignoring checkers for about 30 years. I like old boards and checkers as well as professional stuff. Smaller sizes fit on tables at home. So I have different preferences. ACF (American Drafts Federation) sells official boards and official colored (red and white) drafts. Sometimes it's easier to follow computer screens and books by duplicating the colors on the board in front of me. Men and often color-blind (?) checkers players have chosen professional colors for visibility during the game.
