In my opinion, mask is must for all softball pitchers. My dad is a softball pitcher. He is older and the other players are much younger, but still in good shape, but his reflexes have slowed down a bit. I purchased the mask because i was worried. He didnt want to wear it, but i talked him into it. He felt it would be in the way and in his line , that it would move around & be a distraction. He was very suprised that it was a good fit. He could tighten the straps around his head for a great fit & most importantly it was very light & not in his way. Yes it took a couple games it get used to it. By the 3rd game he forgot it was even on his face and he wears glasses. As I thought, I really big guy hit a line drive right at his face. This mask saved my dad's face. He woukd still be in the hospital having his face reconstructed, the ball hit him that hard, it knocked him off his feet. There wasn't a scratch on him & not one bruise. The padding is just enough and it is very light. He was a little sore near his ear. I highly recommend this mask.
