Review on πŸ”₯ UL Listed Photoelectric Smoke Detectors – 2 Pack Fire Alarms, 9V Battery Operated (10 Year Life Time) by Noah Lewis

Revainrating 4 out of 5

4 stars instead of 5 because the seller told me lies!

I immediately tested these detectors with a professional smoke detector tester spray and they both performed extremely well. Never rely on the test button to assume the detector is working! This only tests the alarm circuit, not the smoke detection ability. Buy a spray. Your life may depend on it! They are surprisingly compact - much smaller than the detectors of a few years ago. There is a red flashing light that will flash from time to time to let you know it has power. The alarm clock is a high, high pitched sound. If you need a deeper tone due to poor audibility in high ranges, look elsewhere. However, this may not apply to many people. They are supplied with two sets of screws and cavity wall anchors. Installation is easy. With a small, quick clockwise turn, the detector clicks into place on the wall bracket. To remove them, just do the opposite. Now for the invention! The seller emailed me that pressing the center button would temporarily disable the annoying alarm. Um, WRONG! So it's great that you can remove the detector so quickly and easily if you haven't mounted it on the ceiling. Then it's time to pick up the magazine and leaf through it until the alarm stops. The? Don't you have paper magazines in our digital age? Then wave your tablet! lol! But at this point I have to add that I put one in my kitchen. I was grilling a steak on the stove and a very, very thin vapor spread across the kitchen. I was expecting a false alarm but this one did NOT trigger an alarm meaning the detector is not very sensitive. A plus for me, which mitigates the impact of the lack of alarm silence! I assume this works fine for smokers as long as the smoke isn't aimed at the detector itself. Based on my not so good experience in the past with very expensive 9V lithium batteries that didn't live up to their needs. high claims for a 10 year smoke alarm life, I just use the much cheaper alkaline ones (included) and swap them out once a year. UPDATE: My wife seared tuna steak and used too much olive oil. Time. The result was quite a thick fume in and out of the kitchen, even with the extractor hood running over the hob! And, YES, the kitchen sensor worked as it should. I did as mentioned above and removed the alarm from the base until the smoke cleared and then put it back on. I would really like it if it had a "quiet" feature. But an accurate alarm saves lives, so I'm content. Many years ago, a family was saved on the street by a working smoke detector. The house burned down!
