** UPDATE 07/2013 -- Win7 Enterprise 64bit Plug and Play - This Better Connectivity Card / SYBA MCS9900 PCIe-parallel Works great! I just put together a new ASUS Z87-Plus MB / Intel Core i7-4770 Haswell PC to replace an outdated and sick WinXP Pro SP3 32-bit, BIOSTAR K8M800 AM2 AGP Parallel-Ported MB and a PC with an AMD Athlon64 X2 6k+ Retire 3GHz AM2 processor. Since all new motherboards no longer have built-in parallel ports, and I wanted to keep using my HP Laserjet 5 workhorse with 66MB printer RAM and a duplexer, I ported this printer card from the ABIT computer below to this new ASUS build. Tested with the new Belkin bi-directional parallel printer cable and it works great - Win7 Enterprise 64bit recognizes the printer right away - VERY SATISFIED! The printer is printing as fast as it can.** Special Note. If the printer freezes print jobs and/or prints gibberish, check the connection with a new bi-directional parallel printer cable - *REPLACE CABLE*! The old Belkin parallel cable worked fine with the above BIOSTAR WinXP-32b parallel port computer, but BAD (print jobs were aborted, resulting in gibberish) with the above ASUS Win7-64b computer with a Best Connectivity/SYBA MCS9900 PCIe -Parallel card. swapped the Belkin cable above and the setup worked GREAT! 2012 - WinXP Pro SP3 32bit Plug and Play - works great! Required to install an old but perfectly working WinXP Pro sp3 32b PC (2005 ABIT KN8 SLI Universal Motherboard with AMD Athlon64x2 4200+ Manchester Socket 939 with 4GB RAM) to run a print server with an old HP Laser Jet 5 network printer 64 MB RAM and duplexer. The old motherboard is still new enough not to have a parallel port, but had 3 unused PCIe 1.0 slots. installed equipment; loaded the drivers from the card's installation disk; and WinXP immediately recognized the printer port and the connected HPLJ5. Works flawlessly! Good exercise. Be sure to back up the driver disk (drivers for WinXP, Vista, Win7 and Linux).
