LED = good; wifi enabled = not

This "Bulbrite Solana ST18 WiFi Connected Edison Filament LED Smart Light Bulb" was a let-down. I'm in process of replacing all the bulbs in my house with LED bulbs (mostly I have CFL's in my lamps and fixtures), and decided to give this "smart" bulb a try. Well, it's not particularly smart. After much fiddling around I was never able to get it set up properly. This is primarily due to the overly simplistic phone app that you have to use to set it up, and the app has minimal functionality and no trouble-shooting capabilities beyond "try again". As near as I could figure out, it would not connect to my wi-fi because it couldn't determine the correct network. The app stated it has to be a 2.4 gHz network, which sucks since most home wifi networks now are either 5 gHz or dual band (my household wifi is dual band) and there was no way to point the app at the correct band/network. Beyond that lameness, I started thinking about what good is a "smart bulb" anyways? Do I really need to be able to control a single light bulb from my phone? What would be the purpose or benefit of that?If you're trying to automate your household devices, doing it one component at a time (potentially leading to having individual apps for each individual device) is the wrong way to go about getting a smart ho
