I have used both this copper tape and a similar product from Stewart MacDonald to protect the control cavities on solid body electric guitars. Both work fine. Here's a comparison: Thickness: This tape is 0.002 inches thick. StewMac ribbon is 0.003 inch thick. The thinner tape is more likely to break if you tamper with it, but is still perfectly usable. Shielding theory tells us that two thicknesses are equally effective for shielding guitars. Price: This tape costs $11 for 30 feet. StewMac tape is $23 for 15 feet. (July 2020) Adhesive: I think this tape is stickier than StewMac tape. This is not necessarily an advantage as both have the required adhesive strength. One possible downside to duct tape is that it's more likely to tear if you try to peel it off to move it. Not enough to be a deal killer. The adhesives on both tapes are very conductive. I tested two pieces of this tape with a 1" x 1mm overlap. The bond between overlapping pieces was measured at 0.0 ohms with a Fluke 87V meter. I don't have StewMac tape at the moment so I can't I can give similar measurements for it, but I remember it also offered very little resistance between overlapping parts My choice is this tape because the price is less than a quarter that of StewMac tape (per unit area).
