Review on 💻 SAMSUNG TUV Certified Curved Monitor LS34A650UXNXGO with Intelligent Features: 100Hz, Flicker-Free, High Dynamic Range, and Samsung S65U Technology by Todd Self

My first reaction to the Samsung S65UA's picture quality and versatility was awe. The curved screen is adjustable side to side and up and down. The screen can also be raised or lowered on the stand for the best viewing experience. When connected to my Windows 10 PC, it automatically detected the monitor's maximum resolution, 3440 x 1440, and set the computer's video output to that value and its refresh rate to 100Hz. I have an ATI Radeon RX 460 graphics card in my commuter car that meets the requirements for this setting, but if your computer doesn't have a discrete graphics card, Windows 10 will set the computer setting to the best possible resolution with a new monitor once it's connected. I'd be surprised if Macs didn't do the same. The Samsung S65UA monitor has several options for connecting to a computer. I chose a DisplayPort cable, but the monitor also supports an HDMI cable or a USB-C cable. These two later cables are included with the monitor. While I've always believed that a DisplayPort connection offers the best picture quality, I'm having a hard time proving this based on picture quality when a monitor is connected with an HDMI cable. I haven't tried the alternative USB-C cable, but according to the monitor manual it offers additional advantages that are particularly interesting for laptop users. When the USB-C cable is connected, the monitor acts as an Ethernet and USB 3.0 hub with one Ethernet port and three USB 3.0 ports on the back of the monitor. This connection option is handy for laptop users who have access to an Ethernet network but don't have a laptop Ethernet port to use. For these laptop users, Ethernet access can be obtained through the monitor's USB-C cable. To reduce the number of cables on my desk, I decided to use the monitor speakers as a replacement for the component speakers. Unfortunately this was not possible. Monitor settings are controlled via a round button located at the bottom center of the monitor. One of the settings concerns the volume, which I set to 100%. Based on this audio setup, I assumed the monitor had speakers. After spending a lot of time setting up my computer and monitor to try and get the monitor's speakers to work, I suspected that the display port cable might be defective, so I replaced it with the HDMI cable that came with the Samsung S65UA. Still no sound. When I researched the issue online, I noticed that neither the Revain product listing nor the Samsung website mentioned speakers. At some point I realized that the monitor doesn't have internal speakers. My external speakers were still nearby so I plugged them into the headphone jack on the back of the monitor and the sound came back. While monitor speakers would be nice, I bought the Samsung S65UA because I needed a larger screen with exceptional video quality, and that's exactly what I got. The monitor has a picture-in-picture, PIP setting. This option may not be needed by most people looking to buy a computer monitor, but it's useful for me. Although the Samsung S65UA is primarily connected to my desktop computer, I occasionally work on my laptop at the same time. Previously, when sharing a monitor, I had to unplug the HDMI video cable from my desktop and plug it into my laptop. However, PIP allows me to connect my laptop to the Samsung S65UA with an HDMI cable while leaving the desktop computer connected with a DisplayPort cable. Instead of switching between two computers, PIP allows me to split the screen so I can see my laptop screen on one half of the monitor and my desktop screen on the other. This allows me to run two resource-intensive computer functions at the same time, e.g. B. Watching YouTube videos on my laptop while backing up terabytes of computer files to the cloud on my desktop. Another option this monitor offers for this is switching between one input source and another using the display control buttons. So PIP is a useful feature for me which I am very glad this monitor has. I also like the Eye Saver mode available in Eye Care settings. When turned on, the monitor reduces the brightness of the monitor and adds a slight sepia tone to the screen. This setting makes long-term work on the computer easier for my eyes. There are two such settings, known as 'low' and 'high', with one being darker than the other. In the evening I set it to a low level first and in cases where my work drags me late into the night I switch it to a high level. I leave it off during the day to fully enjoy the monitor's sharp picture quality. The Samsung S65UA is a quality multifunction monitor that will not disappoint when connected to a computer.
