Review on ๐Ÿ”Œ Schumacher 225/50/25/10 Amp 6/12V Manual Wheel Charger: Efficient Power for Versatile Charging Needs by Don Olsen

Perfect condition and works as it should

I was a bit nervous reading some of the reviews of how poorly their charger was received. I chose Prime 1 Day Shipping because it was free for me as a Chief member. The box arrived in perfect condition and also turned out to be a bit heavier than I expected. I will use 225 AMP mode to revive my car batteries using the method I saw on YouTube. I think it's great for this purpose. This is advertised as a manual charger and is just as manual as advertised. It's no fun with the amp selector and timer, that's all. The 225 amp mode works well and seems to continue to output the amperage as expected as long as the timer is running, not just 15 seconds as stated by another source. It gets a little warm, and even the cord gets a little warm too, since it's dissipating a significant amount of current. I'm not sure if the meter only reads around 50 amps, and my clamp-on DC multimeter also confirmed that it reads around 40-45 amps, while 225 amps was dialed. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the output characteristics, or the manufacturers somehow changed the scale to fool us again. Megabytes versus gigabytes again. I hope someone can explain this to me. I'll try to post this as a question and hope someone responds. Overall this is a dumb charger, just what I wanted. It might be a bit overpriced, but it's also a dying breed of old-school hardware that doesn't rely entirely on electronic controls that can't do some cool stuff. It can also be dangerous for people without common sense, it is quite possible to overcharge the battery if you are not careful. And that can be very dangerous.

Pros
  • Good item
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
