I am very happy with this lamp. I used a soft white LED bulb with it and the lampshade helps diffuse the harshness of the light. I love it when my lamps are used as accents (almost like candles). Even though this purchase is for my desk, I still prefer a softer light because it's more comfortable for me to study and my eyes don't get as tired and strained. The photo isn't the best quality but I turned off the main light in the room and turned on the lamp and this gave the entire room the perfect amount of light. So far the USB ports are working great. I didn't really want to spend $30 on it and it took me months to pull the trigger, but I'm glad I did. The wooden base is nice and heavy. I chose the round shape because I have a small table with an even flatter top edge/shelf. As soon as I saw this item I knew it would fit on a shelf and I wouldn't have to worry about the shade stretching downwards. These curtain designs force you to move the base even further away from the wall to accommodate the width of the curtain with a wider bottom. With this lamp you don't have to worry about that. I should have bought two and now I think I will. The second photo was the first I took and then realized it didn't really show the brightness of the lamp so I set my camera to the exposure to do some justice to my explanation. how bright it actually was in the whole room.
