Durable and safe in drywall. Accurate measurements are required. Drywall is required to work with a hole saw.

Tough, smart, but precision is required when used on both ends of the handlebar. The only thing you absolutely must have is a 1 1/4" hole saw bit. They're inexpensive, fit any bit, and tend to come in a variety of box sizes. I first got them when installing the Moen toilet paper / the rail used. because these brackets came with this item -- a no-brainer. I later bought a Moen Coordinating Handrail Bar to replace my existing traditional towel bar. I wanted this new bar to be installed in the exact same location ( in drywall) of an old towel rail, so I wouldn't have a few holes to patch. If you (like me) want to install in the same place as the previous crossbar, that means you have existing (smaller) holes in the drywall where the old crossbar bracket has come loose. This is causing a problem when using your drill and 1 1/4" hole saw. These hole saws s ind designed so that you hold yourself in the center with a center drill and drill a larger hole around that center point. Because you already have an existing hole at the center, the hole saw drill bit has nothing to hold on to and stays centered. . I ended up removing the bit from the drill bit and using a rubber mallet to drive it into the drywall just deep enough that the teeth left an imprint in the drywall and the drill bit had something to grip on to. be in the exact same spot because it was in the middle under the window. If it weren't and I could adjust it, give or take an inch or two, I would place the center bit just 1/2 inch to the left or right of my existing holes. The 1 1/4" hole would have covered the old screw holes and the hole saw drill would still have the "new" drywall to pierce through. A little more work and frustration the second time around, but the clean looks and durability of these bindings are worth it .
