I use these to carry my SUP. You were safe. Highly recommended as an alternative to spending over $400 on installed racks. They're not as cool as "real racks", so what? Nobody cares but you! I've saved over $400 to spend on a new paddle board :) They're a great price, I bought them for about $45. GOOD ADVICE! I was getting a "vibration" noise (really awful and a little scary to ride) and a friend told me to "twist the straps" holding the board. I did this and the vibration noise went away! So do it if you hear vibration noise. Noise isn't what you wear, it's belts! You can see the photos in my review where I twisted the straps.
