Review on LEECRAFT RIDGID R4512 Zero Clearance Insert by Rickey Ortega

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Stop making your own bets.

I've already assembled mine and made a few cuts. It's absolutely worth the money. I use my own riving knife so this is great for me. If not, get an RG-6 for dado blades. It's great for a single blade and doesn't have a slot for a riving knife. I have nothing but good things to say about this insole. It fits multiple saws, not just the hard one as advertised. See photos. It's completely flat and I was able to dial it in perfectly with the stock adjustment screws. The screws on the insert itself ensure a very tight fit so if it's ever removed and reinstalled it will line up in the same place. I've had it several times and it fits perfectly. It doesn't flex under reasonable pressure. For the purposes of this review, I pressed it to see if there were any discrepancies. I had to press unnecessarily hard to bend it. I do want to mention that once the insert set screws are in place, it takes a small amount of force (light fist punch) on the end of the screw to engage them. Not a big deal, just want users to know if they think it's over-customized. Simply adjust slightly and evenly loosen the screws in small increments until the insert is fully seated. In a nutshell. It's strong, low profile, easy to install and set up, has room for a riving knife (which you really should be using), and isn't that expensive. Buy it.
