I installed a new Eufy doorbell wired version and while setting it up it said that my current transformer is not capable of delivering the voltage that doorbell will require so I researched into doorbell transformers and I found multiple items with pretty much every item had a couple of scary reviews so I decided to try Wearhouse version (got it around 1/2/ price) so that I don't have to bother to return even if transformer fails in a short time. So far the transformer is still working for me as of now.It is surely thicker than the old transformer (see the pictures) because of the more winding for 24 volts probably they might have used the thicker wire since the higher VA. I own an old house so there was not much space for the thicker transformer to fit comfortably, so it surely bit work to jam a thicker unit in the place.Fortunately, there were not many wires (120v input only). It would require a lot of attention if there are multiple wires or outputs for voltage configurations, though it would be an added advantage in some cases. There is no humming, it is as warm to touch as an old transformer. Hopefully, we will have lossless affordable solid-state transformers someday.
