Review on Quality Tools Spring Compressor Service by Joseph Reed

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great tool for small to medium sized engines especially motorcycles

Great! Perfect fit for my Honda CT70 SOHC head. Of course, the valves are less than 1 inch in diameter and the springs are pretty light. Should be perfect for motorcycles. They didn't bend at all during use. properly aligned and with the correct end adapters. It compresses the springs, but it's not a C-clamp! I wish it had a pinch free end that could be used on the valve face. The tool turned out to be larger than I expected. External dimensions 12"x6", internal neck 9.5"x5". The finish looks like matte black paint and felt stiff, maybe satin powder coated. As others have suggested, lubricate the threads with a thin film of grease. some hardness in the corners. You can easily add a welded gusset for extra strength. The adapter cups appear to be molded and one was slightly crooked. The box was red with the Vector Tools trademark on it. This very set seems to be sold under many brand names, unmarked but certainly Chinese.

Pros
  • Used on cars and motorcycles
Cons
  • Good but not great
