I've been using this blue and black tray for almost three years. Two days ago I took the blue out of the freezer with lemonade and cranberry juice cubes. I smelled it straight away. Slightly musty, acrid stench. I thought it was just the smell of the freezer from something that had been in there for a long time. No, that's due to the silicone rubber that the tray is made of. I've tried a washing soda solution (sodium carbonate), a baking soda solution (sodium bicarbonate), a sodium percarbonate solution (like OxiClean), and a mild bleach solution. None of them reduced the smell by one iota. My last attempt was to heat the tray at a low temperature for a long time. It helped a little, but the stench, stench, smell, smell remains. The black tray has no smell at all. Confusion. I think this is a great product but they need to change the silicone formula. This is quite a disappointment as silicone is supposed to have a VERY long lifespan. I hate throwing things away, especially ones that are well designed. Maybe the manufacturer will see this and send me a replacement?
