Normal and inexpensive repair.

Can't say much about the product as my 9 year old son installed it himself. He needed me to move a chair down to the basement because he couldn't get to the plumbing.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Expensive

Cheap water heaters and parts

The repair kit was fairly easy to install and the results were excellent. The tank does not heat up faster and recovers much faster. I installed it on AO Smith 50 gallon tanks. The thermostats are a little longer than the originals, but they snap in well and work like the originals.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • No performance

Not a bad set, but better items could have been bought from Lowe's

Fairly easy installation but required a special head to remove the old elements. It would be great if it came with this kit. I bought the whole set because I wasn't sure if it was the elements or thermostats and I just used thermostats. If anything changes I will update in the future.

Pros
  • . Everything great!
Cons
  • Has been corrupted.

Parts needed to give me hot water!

I have a huge working 50 gallon water heater that just one person can use to take a quick shower. A quick internet search revealed the thermostat and elements to be the likely cause. Everything was fixed 10 minutes after opening the package. What I thought was over $1,000 turned out to be less than $40. Good price!

Why are there no installation instructions or circuit diagrams?

Although the elements and thermostat appear to be of good quality, there were no wiring diagrams or installation instructions. Our thermostats had fewer wire connections than this replacement thermostat, so I had to guess which wire went where (and guess wrong). Result? The upper element overheated to the point of scalding and burst through the safety valve. Good thing we didn't leave our cabin by the lake while it was getting warmer. I ended up using an old thermostat on the top element and…

If there is no leak, repair the heaters/thermostats!

Water heaters come with a note on the lid 'Water heaters will eventually leak - Water leaks can damage the room, take precautions'. My 24 year old State Industries water heater burned out a heating element after it kicked the overheat protection (ECO) device. The manufacturer did not provide any information on spare parts and stated that it would recommend buying a new one. Disposal of the old/installation of the new unit, the inconvenience of the new unit is very uncomfortable for the…

There are problems.: Water heater and parts

We decided to order this kit to save the trip to the local store. Everything looked fine. The installation has completed and everything seems fine. The water temp seemed a little on the hot side. Lowered the temperature on both thermostats. The water still seemed a little hot but we let it go. Then the switch in the main thermostat started to work. Since we've been using the new parts, we've noticed a recurring trend. The water temperature will be higher no matter where it is set on the…
