I loved these and they fit into any existing junction box as expected. They turn any standard switch into a 3 position switch and the smart stuff is another "switch". So the functionality is very powerful. You keep your existing physical switch and anyone can use the switch as usual and control a light, fan, heater or whatever is connected to that switch without any difference, but on top of that you have smartthings timer based functionality - controlled functionality , geofence functionality and all other automation tools as well as remote control from anywhere. Oh yes, that's a great concept! BUT IT DOESN'T WORK! I bought and wasted my time installing 5 of these in my house. Exhaust fans, lighting, fireplace etc but they are so disappointing! Works flawlessly through smart things, whether with the app to toggle on/off or with programmed automation, but a physical switch. You flip the physical switch and hear a click but the wired device doesn't turn on, you flip it back down "click" and it doesn't turn on, keep clicking and it finally lights up. maybe 2 clicks, maybe 3 or 4.rrrrgh! Then one day you go and flip the switch and it works the first time? ! Basically 2-3 switches are flipped up and down before lights or other devices turn on. But when I look at the smart stuff all the devices are connected and working and when I use the app to control the switch it works the first time every time. So this is very frustrating! I feel like the physical switch should work every time regardless of anything else.
