Review on πŸ”§ Optimized Universal Magnetic Phono Cartridge Turntable Headshell by Kevin Mckechnie

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Cheap and simple, but not THAT bad

I've bought at least a dozen of these turntables to fix turntables whose cases were AWOL. I use either these or American DJs depending on whether I want a lighter (6.7 grams) or a heavier (American DJ 10 grams) one. They are alright. Yes, they look pretty cheap and are mass-produced. But I haven't had one that warped or did anything bad in azimuth because the locking pin was misaligned (unfortunately I've seen that on Stanton shells). Not that I doubt they MIGHT have quality control issues, but I didn't see any. In fact, the worst thing I've seen about them is that the silly little silver decorative circle at the top has a habit of peeling off. If you want something not so cheap and the same weight, pay for genuine Technics shells that weigh 7.4 grams.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Available in white only

Great product. Vintage look. I have ordered twice and been satisfied both times. Recommended.
