Doesn't work with cleaning fluids

I had high expectations based on the many good reviews here. But I've tried it on several jars, with different cloths, including the first one. I've left it on just as long as they stay, then tried making it longer and then shorter than they say, sprayed just the amount they say, more than they say, less than they say, and what however i try to shoe them up. straight up.
