You need to cook it for at least 1 hour (you can boil it twice and pour out half the concentrated tannin water both times). After that, completely submerge the wood in a bucket of water and use something like a rock (I used a heavy glass beaker) to push it down until it stops floating when the weight is removed. My piece, I got a small one, was soaked up after about 6-7 days and completely submerged in my aquarium without turning yellow. I've had mine for about 3 weeks now. I have to say I am very happy with my thing, my ghost shrimp are very happy to sit on it for some reason. Great price and would definitely recommend. I plan to attach some java moss to it to make a canopy, very pleased. In the attached photo he is in the middle. Hope this helps those having issues with tannins and sinking wood!
