At the time of purchase this unit had a 56% 5 star rating but I should have listened to the 20% 1 star rating given for something is significantly higher which so many people have given perfect ratings. This product is significantly cheaper than its competitors and has good reviews, so I gave it a try. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. You pay little and get little. First, there are no native drivers for it in Windows 10. There was a burned mini CD in the package, but who has CD drives? The manual points to a website to get the driver, which of course is not a valid URL. I didn't find it on the site at all. I ended up googling, found and installed the driver. I am currently working from home and have 3 monitors connected to my computer. I can't add an additional graphics card to add another monitor and I really need all the space on three desktops. So I figured I could use this to connect a very small 12" 720p HDTV to watch YouTube videos. So I set it up and the USB to HDMI adapter worked. Hooray! Settings so it's a bit annoying as I couldn't overscan the TV or color. never mind Overscan is fine if I'm just watching a video and I can use the TV myself to adjust the colors. Video playback worked reasonably well on it, video was stutter-free when set to 720. At first I thought it was something different as the videos played just fine, not to mention the adapter was on the USB3 bus and not the USB2 where the mouse and keyboard were. But in the end I had enough to check. That only that has changed, it is an adapter. So I pull it out and it's hot. Much hotter than an electronic device in a closed housing with passive cooling should be. I unplugged the adapter and the board's mouse and keyboard are working fine again. Turned back on, mouse and keyboard stuttering again. I don't understand how this affects the other USB bus, but it does. I then stop playing the video and just leave it there with the static website showing. I go. After a few hours, I start to hear my Windows constantly connecting to USB and disconnecting noises. I walk in and immediately put my hand on the USB adapter and it's HOT. It's so hot that it fails and shuts down and makes noise, cools down and works again, then reconnects and makes noise. Again and again. I will be returning this POS adapter and buying a more expensive one. May be. Someday I will learn that saving a few dollars comes with its own problems. May be.
