It takes time, but it's worth protecting your carpets during construction by visiting

This is a great product if you can get on all fours and move forward while unrolling the tape and pressing onto the carpet. It's very sticky and when you start trimming corners and tight spots in closets you need to practice and do it very slowly but deliberately or the material will stick together and make a mess. I've also found that after the section is complete, you fold the material so that the film doesn't come back on the roll, since it's very difficult to rip two feet of tape off the closed tube.
