I got this flashlight because I live in Florida and extended power outages because of hurricanes is a real concern and you can't really have too many flashlights.This thing is extremely bright and casts a very wide beam when zoomed all the way out. It can easily provide light for most indoor spaces or in the woods on a cloudy night or any other dark spaces.The zoom in and out is a simple slide of the front piece on the light and zoomed all the way in casts a very narrow beam.The included large (186508 type) rechargeable battery definitely shines more brightly than the included 3 AAA batteries but being able to swap out one type for the other is a fantastic feature.In the package was a carrying case that would be water resistant but I would necessarily trust it for a river trip. Two types of batteries and the holders for them. A charging cable and a small keychain light that was quite bright.I don't know how water resistant it is but I don't think it should really be submerged. All the connections seem tight enough that it would be fine out in the rain but I don't know about something like a rafting trip.I would recommend this flashlight for general home and camping use,
