Review on πŸ”Œ MT-VIKI 4 Port Hotkey KVM Switch HDMI with 4 USB Cables & 4 HDMI Cables 4K 30Hz and 2 USB Hubs for U Disk and Printer by Maurice Vianes

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Poor HDMI signal, possibly

This looks and feels like a quality device. And in production mode it works fine - the keyboard and mouse switch correctly, as does the USB interface to the camera I used for these shots. I hooked it up to a Microsoft laptop, a Dell desktop and a 32" Dell monitor and at first I thought it was just a laptop issue - the desktop image looked fine but the laptop was everywhere in the picture strong blue stripes. But when I switched the laptop cables from KVM port 2 to 3, the picture looked almost normal. Ok it must be a bad port, I can live with that as I only use two computers on a 4 port switch. , there is also signal-dependent noise on the "good" ports - some of it flickering, some of it being stationary. I tried connecting a 5V power supply, thinking that USB power might be limited, but the image got a bit louder with the connection. external power than without. My monitor HDMI cable worked fine, but I even tried replacing it with one of the HDMI KVM cables if it didn't meet the specs. But that didn't matter. I sent it back for exchange and hopefully the new one will work. Photos: 1) riv r: laptop - significant errors on all screens 2) Nurses: desktop - single signal dependent errors on most screens 3) Floating dock: desktop - no errors on this screen EDIT 12/16/2020: I got a replacement and it works good with 3 computers (desktop, microsoft laptop, asus laptop). I've raised the rating to 4 stars, it would be 5 if the first unit wasn't marginal. Oddly enough, a few days after connecting to the network, the first block worked almost perfectly. The laptop screen, which used to show significant stationary and random noise, now has few random streaks on black screens and none on bright areas. I don't know what could "burn out" in a few days to make HDMI signals more reliable, but even the first block is usable now, although it's a bit annoying when viewing dark areas.

  • Computers and accessories
Cons
