About Windows disk cloning: I bought a hardware disk copier that works offline (doesn't need to be connected to a computer to work) and I'm trying to copy my system disk to an SSD to copy: failed again. In the end, the only thing that worked was unplugging the system drive and plugging in the SSD and using a repair disk with recovery media to actually do a clean install on the SSD. Conclusion: I strongly suspect that the cloned system drive MUST be equal or larger in PHYSICAL size (total partition size doesn't matter, it's the physical capacity of the drive) than the drive being copied, without exception. I also suspect that other non-system drives can be successfully cloned with partition reduction software, but NOT system drives. The drive bays on this cloner/toaster are actually labeled A and B, but are hard to see in black plastic and are recessed rather than raised and painted. The illustrations in the owner's manual show everything except which drive bay is which - a simple line with an 'A' and one with a 'B' would be a good pick. The instructions and keystrokes described for out-of-line disk cloning are shaky. A different key assignment would make more sense. Also, the indicator lights are counter-intuitive when cloning. A flashing light would have better indicated which part of the disc was being copied, with the finished parts remaining solid and the parts that weren't finished being off. Disk cloned my OS disk to SSD and I was able to confirm the partitions. everything was there, but it wouldn't boot and couldn't be repaired. I am saving the cloner for future use.
