I don't just use them to store groceries. When I travel I put delicate items inside and squeeze the air out before sealing. I also put shoes inside so dirty soles don't soil other items in my luggage. At home I use them to store all sorts of items in my sewing workshop, workshop and bathroom. When I'm bagging portions of frozen items like fillets, chicken breasts, salmon, shrimp, I zip them up into smaller ones and then organize them by putting all of those items in one of those gallon bags for double protection. Bringing chicken with you is a breeze with this bag. Place the whole chicken inside, add the brine, squeeze out the excess air and zip up. I put this in a bowl in the fridge in case there is a leak. Can't be too careful.
