I used a large dehumidifier before but it couldn't handle the humidity in my basement. I was advised to look into light commercial installations and stumbled upon AlorAir products. I am very happy with my decision to purchase this machine. I was looking for something that would primarily keep moisture out of my basement during the hot summer months, but I also wanted something portable so I could move to my garage when needed. When all the rain or snow from our car fills the garage with moisture, this device easily pulls it out of the air. I was also able to use it successfully on cold days because it has a built-in defrost function that prevents the coils from freezing. Then when I'm done I can easily put it back in the basement to take care of the summer humidity. I was also very surprised at how quiet it is. I have a small office/home theater in my basement and I'm not bothered by the noise when this unit is running. The coolest thing about this device is all of its little features. The WLAN setup is great and I was able to set it up relatively quickly with the instructions that came with it. What was very important to me was that it has a built in pump so you can pump the waste water to where it needs to go and not have to rely on gravity. Also, this unit gives you so much information that I have never seen on other dehumidifiers. It shows the temperature and humidity of the incoming and outgoing air. It shows the power consumption of the amplifier, the temperature of the coils and the operating hours of the machine. Plus a few little things that show they really thought of this unit... 2 strong lifting straps that attach to the top of the unit to help move it, the end of the power cord lights up to let you know that you get power from a wall outlet and the unit comes with a Velcro strap to secure the drain hose or power cord when not in use. All in all, this device does an excellent job of removing moisture from the air. This alone is worth every penny compared to cheap big deals. But when you add all the extra features this device has, you can't even compare it to anything else. Verdict: If you're looking for a serious dehumidifier, this one won't disappoint.
