I don't think they are designed for a waterproof mount. If so, then I would give them a lower rating. I installed them on my van without a canopy and had to make my own seal against the van. Since they are intended as "awnings" I suspect they are meant to be mounted to awning supports in some way. I like them for the quality of the device and the lighting. Feels very good and offers good coverage. Like all my patio lights, I have a dimmer and they work well.
