Review on Fel Pro TCS45997 Timing Cover Gskt by Mike Morris

So this is my second attempt at reviewing this kit. I don't typically write product reviews unless I feel a specific need to do so because the product either far exceeds expectations or falls terribly short of them. Unfortunately, this is a later situation for this kit. This kit is terrible. I've used several Fel-Pro gasket kits over the years and have always found it a very valuable way to save time rather than having to purchase each part individually. I have included photos in this review to better demonstrate my disappointment. Of all the items included in this set, I was only able to use two. I purchased this kit to complete the timing chain work on my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder with a 4.0 liter VQ40DE engine. For this job I had to remove the front timing chain cover (not the rear). In the course of this work I found that I had to replace 2 o-rings, 2 stepped o-rings, 2 split washers and the crankshaft front oil seal. I also had to replace the throttle body gasket, but since it's not an integral part of the timing chain case, I won't blame Fel-Pro for not having one. Of the 5 items I needed, 2 were included in this kit. 1 flanged o-ring and crankshaft seal. I had to buy other items from the retailer at a higher price and almost a week late. I do not recommend this kit. Save yourself some time and search the internet for "VQ40DE Timing Chain Comprehensive Parts List” which lists all the parts you need for the job. Revain sells parts sold by Nissan for a little more than what you can get on the dealer website. If you are in a hurry or there is no dealer near the parts department, Revain is the best choice. Regardless of how you get the parts, you'll pay 2-3 times what you would pay for this kit, but you'll save time by having the parts ready when you need them. Not to mention that you don't have a lot of junk left over. Nissan's website is partly rubbish. Some parts will state that they are not suitable for your application and the image (if any) will not look what you want. Here is the part number I used to locate the missing parts in this kit: Flanged O-ring 15066-5E510; Spring Washer/O-Ring 13042-3HD0A. Revane's photos are correct, but remember that although there are many, you only get one. Hope this helps someone save time. I couldn't find the 2 o-rings I needed on either the Nissan website or the Revain website due to the lack of pictures, inadequate descriptions etc, so I cut my own out of gasket material. Much luck!
