Review on πŸš€ Enhanced Performance Hot Rod CB Antenna - Francis 300-CB22B, 3-Foot, Black by Bruce Marable

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Decent antenna, but not weatherproof.

Pros: This antenna is thin and sleek. Because the coil is internal, the antenna itself does not have an external coil. It just looks like a thin round piece of black fiberglass. It does not catch strong winds. This antenna is quite flexible. When installed in a rigid mount without a shock spring, you can flex the top of the antenna 12 to 18 inches without undue stress on the base. The SWR on channels 1 and 40 is about 0.3 higher than on channel 19, which is saying something. This antenna has a relatively flat SWR curve for a 3 foot antenna, also known as this antenna has a very wide bandwidth for a 3 inch antenna. Many of the 3 foot antennas I have tried have a steep SWR curve. You can read an SWR difference of 0.9 or more between the outer and center channels, meaning they are very narrow band and designed to operate on a small subset of frequencies. Not in here. Cons: There is no way to extend this antenna. Unlike top-loading fiberglass antennas, which you can move up the shaft a few turns to lengthen, this antenna is as long as it was when you first put it on. If necessary, you can shorten the antenna by removing the red cap and gradually sawing off the antenna with a steel rasp. This antenna has very poor weather reception. Of course, if you don't have a weather radio, this isn't a big problem for you. Other notes: Because this antenna has a continuous winding, most of its transmission power lies outside the middle third of the antenna. This makes this antenna ideal for installations that are usually above the roof line, such as B. in mirror semi-trailers. If you place it somewhere below the roofline, e.g. For example, on the hood of a pickup truck, it may be better to use a top-loading antenna. Conclusion: This antenna has good CB reception for its length. I had no problems with transmission and eavesdropping. It's a pretty decent choice if you're using a CB without the weather and mounting the antenna high on the vehicle.
