Better than a lot of paper plates

Better than a lot of paper plates, even the thicker and sturdier ones, since they are plastic they don't absorb or bend like paper does eventually. They potentially could be re-usable if you are careful with them. The plastic is thin as well, so they can break. They are more slippery than a lot of plates as well, which means they probably aren't as great for kids.
