It works great with Apple Homekit!

At the time of writing this review I have been using this device for about two weeks and it works flawlessly every time. I am very happy with it. Device Setup. Before you can pair this opener with the Home app, you MUST DISABLE 5GHz signals on your Wi-Fi router (if it passes 5GHz and 2.4GHz frequencies). This requirement is clearly stated in the owner's manual and from what I've read there's no getting around it. In my case, I have Google Wifi, which doesn't offer a way to disable specific frequencies, so I temporarily set up a backup WiFi router with that feature. After that I scanned the QR code on the box with my iPhone and it connected the opener in the Home app in less than 30 seconds. The entire setup was as easy as pairing a Bluetooth device with an iPhone. I should mention that you don't need the Refoss app at all during the initial setup. Installation: After pairing the device, the physical installation in the garage took about half an hour, but that's because I took my sweet time running the cables and tying everything up very neatly. Overall, the installation process was easy. Usage: Now for the fun part. After installing this Refoss device, my stupid garage door became "smart". I can open/close it from anywhere in the world with my iPhone, Apple Watch, Macbook Pro or even HomePod. If I had CarPlay in my car, I could control it from my car too. Refoss App: As I mentioned above, you don't really need a setup app, and you certainly don't need one to use the opener. You just need to have the Home app on your phone. However, some advanced functions such as scheduling and some special open/close rules can only be performed in the application. I personally have never bothered to install this application. Home App: I now only use the Home app on my iPhone to control my garage door. The garage door icon in the Home app shows whether the door is open or closed. The app sends notifications to all your Apple devices every time a door opens or closes, which can be annoying, but I can easily toggle these notifications on and off on each device if needed. Bottom line: If you're in the Apple ecosystem and want to control your plain old garage door, just ask Siri to buy this Refoss device now and thank me later.
