These are high-quality structural screws. The literature available from the manufacturer is excellent for determining allowable loads. The torx notch is deep enough to be very secure when riding. I'm a pilot who drilled most of the mine. The head is very large and has a good bearing surface. I think they are very safe for their allowable rating. I use them in shear applications, joining 1.5 inch (actual) thick boards on my deck and front step. The coating looks like it will stand up to corrosion over time. I would buy again.
