Long Term Test: BMW E85/E86 Z4 Direct Oil Filter Change

I bought this oil filter for my 2004 BMW Z4 (E85/E86) in 2011. It has lasted many years in combination with full synthetic oil and I plan to buy them forever. I do all the maintenance on my Z4 myself because I want to save money and make sure the job is done right. I went to my local dealer and the parts department told me the BMW OEM oil filter was this Mann filter. I convinced myself of this in the BMW forum. When I removed the old filter, it even matched the numbers perfectly! If you're even remotely mechanically inclined, I highly recommend trying this job out for yourself. This can be done safely in a driveway or garage with some basic tools and a good set of ramps. Replacement oil pan drain plugs are also available. Your local auto parts store sells Castrol European Formula fully synthetic oil every few months. If you're patient or plan ahead, you can cut the price of an oil change by 2/3 and be confident the job was done right. Have fun driving! If you have any questions about my review, please email me. I'll try to answer as soon as possible!
