Review on LANCOSC Magnifying Glass with Light and Stand: 5X Real πŸ” Glass Lens, LED Lighted Arm Magnifier Desk Lamp for Crafts and Reading by Megan Green

Great lighting at a great price

This magnifying lamp is great for the price. Very well finished with good quality metal parts except for the clip and some handles which are made of plastic. I'll venture out and say I'm sure this will last and definitely isn't a 'toy'. I bought this to replace an Ottlite magnifying floor lamp. The Ottlight was at least 5 years old and I loved it until the top flex arm broke where it connects to the main shaft post. Unfortunately, the most vulnerable part, and indeed the part that takes the most stress from multiple movements a day, was plastic. Had it been metal I would still use it today as the lamp was still in excellent condition. The Lancosc lens wasn't as sharp as the Ottlight. Let me get that straight. The image under a Lancosc lens becomes distorted as the line of sight moves away from the center of the lens. This doesn't happen at all with an Ottlight lens. One thing I really missed about Lancosc was the super enlargement slick that I use a lot. One of the features of the Lancosc lamp is the choice of levels of 3 light spectra, as well as brightness. Ottlight has no choice. BUT the light doesn't cover as much area as Ottlight. While Ottlight is more of a spotlight that illuminates a large area with bright light as opposed to Lancosc which is just a narrow spotlight. But seriously, you really can't go wrong with a Lancosc clip-on magnifier for the price. dot is 4-5 times smaller than Ottlight. The Ottlight I have now cost about $140. So no comparison to Lancosc, which is suitable for every budget. I'm glad I bought it.
