Hello, when I first got this lamb I rubbed it over my thumbs. I couldn't install it properly, it kept falling apart, couldn't cut it properly. After getting used to it, it's really a great asset in my beading hobby. Let's say there are places where it just doesn't work, there are no bars, etc., but everything had its ups and downs. I should have read the description better. A 4 inch lens is too small, especially since only one arm is really articulated - the top one. Other designs allow both levers to move, allowing you to pull out the lens. You only get a few inches from the edge or back of the lens. table so it's basically in the way all the time. Up, down and spin is really all you get. Probably good for handicrafts, but nothing more.

The lights should be brightest where they're lowest - the lowest is like a mood light or a night light. The magnification is more like 1.25-1.5, not 2x at all - I have a portable 2x and the magnification is noticeably more than this thing. If it were ten bucks I could give it three stars, but for the price it's really zero stars - unless you want to use it as a movie prop, it's basically useless.

OMG! How much more beautiful and faster diamond painting is now! I should have bought it a long time ago. Brighter, bigger (more). I put it in the corner of the craft table and it can cover the entire large Van Gogh Starry Night painting. Makes things a lot more comfortable and less tiring for the eyes. It doesn't heat up. This is the second time I have bought a Lancosc magnifying lamp. I used the first one for about a year before it failed and stopped working. I think a wire in one of the cables must be broken. This magnifying lamp is great for the price. Very well finished with good quality metal parts except for the clip and some handles which are made of plastic. I'll venture out and say I'm sure this will last and definitely isn't a 'toy'. I bought this to replace an Ottlite magnifying floor lamp.
