Using a long portable USB drive cable is not reliable
So they can be used for many purposes, but one of the most common is using a USB 3.0 hard drive (either powered or unpowered), and in In my extensive testing, I found that the long cable (6.6 feet) cannot be used reliably in this manner. It may work for a short time, but it *breaks out* (then quickly reconnects - it's not a big deal unless you're transferring files when it becomes an obstacle since you're not moving away from the computer but you have to keep repeating "try again" I don't think it's the cables per se - it might just be a limitation of USB 3.0 and high speed drives - but I would recommend a 6.6 cable here don't trust it for data transfer (it messed up a few of my files during the 3 day test).
