Is there a reason these parts are always made from a softer, easily removable zinc metal rather than steel?

Edited but ripped a few while working on a project. Is there a reason these things are always made out of a softer zinc metal that's easy to remove rather than steel? let's go boys! If you make them out of steel and charge me more, I'll pay more and buy them. I'm just saying.
