Setup failed: I plugged it in and THEN turned it on. Writes"no network connection". I repeated with a different cable and router slot. Same result. Then I checked my router to make sure its access control settings weren't blocking my connections. I then reconnected the network cable with the Home Base powered on. Only then did he start to work. Lame mistake. Updated firmware on all devices, started testing in Optimize for Safety mode (less battery life, more sensitive, longer clip storage). Problems so far: 1. Motion detection doesn't work through a glass window - actually that's not a problem, it's a physical limitation to save battery: Only the motion sensor is used and not the actual image from the camera.2. Motion detection with headlight on in the dark will result in false detection events.3. Motion detection in any mode, even at the highest sensitivity, only responds to movements within about 3 meters and does not work over long distances.4. The user interface is rough, especially in the area of switching between portrait and landscape modes.5. Image quality is very basic, for example, if the frame contains a sunlit part and a shaded part, nothing can be seen in the shade at all. That's fine for a $30 standalone wireless camera, but not acceptable for a $300 3-cam kit and home base (probably a $30 component). Night vision sucks, with and without headlights - I expected better quality at this price point.7. Even in "Safety Enhanced" mode, saved clips are very short and do not span the entire event. For example, when someone comes to my door, I see the beginning of it, but then I don't see what the person was doing when they were closer to the door. This can be configured in "custom" mode, but I estimate the battery life would then be 2 weeks.8. Under certain conditions (it is not clear what) longer events are saved, but in dozens of short clips, with dozens of push notifications.9. Battery life is so-so unless you live in the desert and have at least one motion event per day. I'm thinking of bringing this back and replacing it with a line of wired cameras with a less buggy UI. Update after a week of use. Other stupid problems: 10. The distance between the cameras and the base is extremely limited. The cameras connect directly to your home base, not to your WiFi network. I can stand in front of the garage with the camera in hand and it won't find the base. If you have a house longer than 50 feet and want to place cameras in the front and back, you may have problems.11. "1080p" video quality is a BIG FALSE promise. All videos (news feed, notifications, notifications saved on phone, life history feeds saved on phone) are very grainy. The clips are tiny, extremely compressed, and basically useless if you want to see detail of something from 5 feet away. There are no settings anywhere that control video compression and resolution.12. Support sucks. Wanted to contact support via live chat regarding the above issue and ask how to change the resolution/compression. The support agent was likely handling multiple requests in multiple chats as the replies were only a few minutes apart. I then got distracted while waiting for an answer and when I came back the chat session was over. If I need to continue, I'll have to open a new session and go through the entire conversation again. This is bad.13. If you receive events from more than one camera at the same time, the homebase will have performance issues. When an event is being saved from one camera and you are viewing a live feed from another camera, frames are dropped and the saved clips are "choppy".14. Learn more about motion sensitivity. No matter what settings I try, I get problems. For example, on the default medium sensitivity setting I get false alarms when there is no movement, and at the same time (same settings) I get no alarm when I see a cat moving 5ft in front of the camera (I have "all movements" "."Sensitivity setting). 15. The base is DISABLED! And requires a reboot. This happens on average once a day. I have the latest firmware (both cameras and homebase). 16. If their application server is down, your whole system unusable. And let me tell you their app server is badly down!17.There is no option so save even 3 hour events for free in the cloud. You only rely on the basics. And probably cheaper storage in. Now I'm 75% convinced I need to return this. This solution and implementation is just very bad and unreliable.
