I needed a mic that could handle the wide dynamic range of a grand piano without having to make a lot of adjustments. Pros: I really liked this mic. It can handle loud, heavy chords and soft, delicate colors. And it sounds very close to the natural sound of the piano. Cons: You can't see microphone settings like gain level. If Apogee made more controls available or visible in its app, this would be a decent mic for the home studio. Sounds better than the built-in microphones on iPads or cell phones. But not as good as professional microphones. After listening to several high-end microphones, I'm forced to revise my assessment.
