Auto punches fairly light hit compared to a hammer but it gets the job done. I like to use it to start a mid shot before finishing it with a big hand shot. It's something of a pilot compared to a traditional pilot, and not having a hammer allows for more precise placement in certain situations. Also, I found it to be a great tool for removing small amounts of epoxy. If an impact is initiated, the cured epoxy will tend to shatter on impact. Sometimes it takes a few hits. Please note that this only applies to small jobs.
