Review on Altec Lansing Comfort Q Bluetooth Headphones Headphones by James Pfettscher

Revainrating 3 out of 5

This is NOT Altec Lansing

I have some really good Altec Lansing speakers that I use on my desk so I was very happy to get a pair of Altec Lansing headphones expecting the same quality. These headphones are said to be designed in the US and made in China. When downloading the useless app for these headphones, which was basically just a manual and a product catalogue, I noticed something strange, which is that the app is from Sakar and NOT from Altec Lansing. Sakar makes inexpensive camera accessories. Strange. A 15-minute study found that Altec Lansing went bankrupt and sold the name. It explains everything. In short, the noise cancellation is terrible, the sound quality is terrible and these headphones are overpriced. I tested the noise-cancellation at work, sitting next to a colleague with a server that sounds pretty close to an airplane. The Altec Lansings cut some of the low frequencies but didn't do much to change the noise. They had the worst noise cancellation I've ever experienced. Other Chinese made headphones I also own, in a similar price range, had better noise cancellation than these. The headphones only support SBC, the most basic Bluetooth audio codec, and so understandably play dull and lifeless audio wirelessly. What surprised me was how dull and lifeless they sounded when wired. There doesn't seem to be any bass below 100Hz and what you hear sounds muddy and indistinct. The high-end wasn't presented well either. In terms of sound, there is really nothing worth mentioning here. Not to repeat myself, other Chinese made headphones I own in a similar price range had wired sound than these. I cannot recommend these Altec Lansing headphones at all.

  • Enjoyable
